A working prototype of an engineering system is necessary for testing and verification. We use off-the-shelf components and customized working prototypes to test the functionality of sub-systems and to verify different aspects of the design.

We are an engineering research and development company based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. AR Medical is specialised in designing, prototyping and developing advanced medical and scientific devices. Our team of experienced engineers provide a wide range of electrical, mechanical, optical and software engineering solutions to our clients to transform ideas to fully functional prototypes. In partnership with the University of British Columbia, British Columbia Cancer Agency Research Center and local biomedical companies, we have designed and developed prototypes of several diagnostic and therapeutic devices including:

o   Wearable sensor systems for monitoring and analysing physiological signals.

Current Positions

NEW Software Engineer Position

The Software Engineer will work on variety of projects including the development of a 3D scanning software. He/She will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to: Mathematical modelling, image analysis, low-level communication with electronics, architecting and designing systems that comprise sensors, wireless communication, and web and cloud applications.


Skills/experience required:

  • Degree in computer science, mathematics, electronics engineering or an equivalent combination of experience and knowledge.
  • Experience with software design, architecture, and testing
  • Experience with Microsoft SDK and Visual Studio programming languages.
  • Experience in programming with mobile app platforms such as iOS/Objective-C/Swift, Android/Java is a plus.
  • Experience in developing wireless communication networks, circuit design, PCB design, as well as a reasonable knowledge of software programming for micro-controllers is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will be a team player with versatile hands-on engineering skills who can take initiative and solve problems on the fly.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent ability to communicate ideas both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
